WeChat Official Account setup

Bind an account and save articles to drafts

Bind up to 5 Official Accounts in Koinote's web or desktop app, then save each formatted article directly to the selected account's drafts.

Before you start

Before binding an account, make sure its WeChat permissions and developer credentials are ready. You only need to complete these platform steps once per account.

  • One or more verified WeChat Official Accounts with access to draft and material APIs.
  • The account's AppID and AppSecret. Enter the AppSecret only in Koinote's binding form; never send it in chat or feedback.
  • Koinote Cloud's current WeChat API egress IP is 122.51.97.242; self-hosted deployments should use the server's public egress address.
  • A signed-in Koinote Lifetime member account; binding, cover generation, and draft delivery are available to paid members. Desktop local mode cannot connect to WeChat or generate covers.

Configure the WeChat developer platform

First allow Koinote's backend to call the WeChat APIs, then return to Koinote to enter the credentials. Menu names can change as WeChat updates its console, but the settings remain under API management.

  • Sign in to the developer platform — Open developers.weixin.qq.com/platform and sign in as an administrator of the account you want to bind.
  • Open API management — Select the Official Account you want to bind, open API management, and find the developer credentials and IP allowlist.
  • Add the IP allowlist entry — For Koinote Cloud, add 122.51.97.242 (the WeChat API egress IP); self-hosted deployments should add their server's public egress IP. Enter one address per line when required by WeChat.
  • Prepare developer credentials — Copy the AppID and generate or copy the AppSecret. WeChat may show it only once, so store it in a password manager first.

Why is the IP allowlist required?

WeChat verifies the server making each API request. Koinote calls WeChat only from its backend, so the allowlist must contain the server's egress IP—not your computer's IP. For Koinote Cloud, use 122.51.97.242; self-hosted deployments should use their server's public egress address.

Bind and push from Koinote

Once the WeChat settings are ready, bind the account in Koinote and save an article as a draft from the editor. Koinote never publishes the article directly, so you can review it in WeChat first.

  1. Open Koinote in your browser or desktop app and sign in with a Lifetime member account.
  2. Go to Settings → WeChat and enter a label, AppID, and AppSecret for each account. You can bind up to 5 accounts and choose one as the default.
  3. Open any document, choose Export to social platforms, select WeChat Official Account, then choose Sync to account drafts. Select the target account in the draft panel; Koinote uses the default when you do not choose another.
  4. A cover is optional. If you want an AI cover, enter a prompt and choose a preset or custom W:H ratio. Each successfully generated cover costs 20 credits; regenerating is charged separately.
  5. Choose Save to WeChat drafts without generating an AI cover, then select the default cover or any image from the article. Article images are transferred to WeChat before the draft is created; Koinote never publishes the article directly.

Cost and access

Binding an account does not use credits; each successful draft sync costs 20 credits, and failed syncs are not charged. Binding and draft delivery are available to paid members. An AI cover costs an additional 20 credits when generation succeeds; failed generations do not charge. Cover generation also requires Lifetime membership, available credits, and an image model configured for the service.

Troubleshooting

The backend IP is not allowlisted

Return to API management on the WeChat developer platform. Koinote Cloud uses 122.51.97.242; self-hosted deployments should add their server's public egress IP, not the local computer address.

The account lacks API access

Confirm that the account is verified and can use draft and material APIs. Some account types or permission states require activation on WeChat's side.

The cover model is unavailable or credits are low

Make sure at least 20 credits are available. If the model is still reported as unavailable, contact the Koinote administrator.

An article image cannot be transferred

Return to the editor, wait for image synchronization to finish, and try again. If draft creation fails, Koinote makes a best-effort cleanup of the newly uploaded cover material.

Security reminders

The AppSecret is encrypted on Koinote's server and is not kept as plaintext by the client or sent to the cover model provider. Never put it in a document, feedback message, or screenshot. If you suspect exposure, reset it in WeChat and bind the account again in Koinote.
